How Bail Works

Bail is one of things we all hope we’re never going to have to learn about. If a friend or loved one has been arrested then to get them out of jail you’re either going to have to pay the entire bail amount in cash or use a bail bond. Most people choose bail bonds because they’re relatively cheap and a bail agent will provide a number of resources to help you and accused cope with what is sure to be a bumpy road ahead.

The Top 10 Most Popular Plastic Surgery Procedures In America

plastic surgeryNo one is born perfect, but modern plastic surgery techniques have enabled many Americans to come pretty darn close, and California is the go to mecca for cosmetic procedures. From SmartLipo Orange County to a nip and tuck in San Jose, the assistance of a surgeon’s knife allows you to reduce, lift, suck in, and fill out the parts of your body that you aren’t 100% satisfied with.

With all of the different procedures available today, have you ever wondered what the most popular plastic surgery procedures in America were? Fortunately for us, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons was curious about the same thing! Here is the list they’ve compiled of the 10 most popular cosmetic procedures in 2012!

  1. Breast Augmentation. In 2012, there were approximately 296,203 breast augmentation procedures performed across the United States. This number represents a 2% increase from the number performed in 2011. In California, you only have to look at the number of breast augmentation San Diego procedures performed daily to see just how popular this procedure is!
  2. Rhinoplasty (Reshaping of the Nose). In 2012, there were 252,261 nose reshaping procedures performed. Surprisingly, this number showed a 1% decrease from the total number of rhinoplasties in the U.S. in 2011, but it is still hanging on to its top spot on this list!
  3. Eyelid Surgery. Did you know that the proper medical term for eyelid surgery is “blepharoplasty”? There were 208,764 blepharoplasties performed in the U.S. in 2012. That was a 3% increase over the 2011 figures.
  4. Liposuction. This is the cosmetic procedure that Americans are most familiar with. In 2012, there were 203,106 liposuction procedures performed. This was up 2% from 2011.

  7. Breast Lift. In 2012, plastic surgeons across America performed 89,931 breast lifts, which represents a 3% increase from the number performed in 2011.
  8. Dermabrasion. A relative newcomer to the plastic surgery procedure roster, 2012 saw approximately 68,636 dermabrasion procedures performed across the country. This number shows an 8% increase from 2011’s figures. For those who aren’t familiar with this procedure, dermabrasion is the mechanical sanding or removal of the top layers of facial skin.
  9. Forehead Lift. Another newcomer to the procedure list, 2012 saw 42,433 forehead lifts across the U.S. Interesting fact? This was the exact same number of procedures that were performed in 2011!

Motor Insurance Fraud Probed in Italy

motor insurance fraud in ItalyThe government is aiming to combat motor insurance fraud with it’s Decreee Cresci Italy. However, as Paolo Golinucci explains this might not be as forthright as it seems. A recent article in the daily mail dubbed ‘’whiplash capital of Europe’’ placed Italy with the second highest whiplash claims related to road traffic accident in Europe with a whopping 68%. In 2001 a man called Christian Kleon confessed to police after killing his cousin, in an attempted insurance fraud that went seriously wrong.

According to Paul Ogni the Senior Insurance Loss Adjuster presso Crawford & Company Italia, he recognizes fraud to be a severe glitch in the insurance market, although he observes that data remains inadequate. He goes on to assert that this problem has been elevated by a growing number of lawyers who want to get involved in most RTA claims at the beginning stages of the claiming process. However in spite of these problems the economic crisis has also forced middle class families to devise more plans of making money and sometimes fraud is a result of temptation as opposed to something thought after on a daily basis despite a few culprits.

Premiums increased by 20% in Italy between 2003 and 2011, against an average of 8% in Europe. Even so the business lost money last year. Italy’s car insurers lost almost €10 on every €200 of third-party insurance sold; claims settlement absorbed €15.9 billion. The Associazione Nazionale Fra Le Imprese Assicuratrici (ANIA) admits that its figures, which show the illegitimacy in about 3% of claims in Italy are just not reliable. The figure for the provinces of Naples and Caserta, at around 14%, is probably nearer the mark. That helps explain why one in seven cars in Naples was seemingly involved in an accident last year.Official figures (3% of third-party liability losses are of a fraudulent type) are only the starting point, yet underline the reality that this phenomenon is particularly concentrated in some areas with a higher criminality rate, with peaks that go even beyond 13% of the settled losses.

The insurance sector is not in a position to competently deal with this phenomenon due to the limits existing in terms of protection of individual privacy. This prevents the implementation of private-type archives, which could be used by enterprises to act as intelligence on doubtful claims.

The Associazione Nazionale Fra Le Imprese Assicuratrici proposed a public anti-fraud office, financed by the insurance companies, which will gather all existing data on the subject, by rationalizing the data supplying and putting at disposal by the operators. This would be a simple and charge free intervention of the State, and could have an instrumental impact on the struggle against frauds, as it was shown by the results obtained by all countries that supplied them with such investigation tools and that could dramatically reduced this phenomenon.
